Sarah, the event organizer and founder of Pedal for Parkinson's (PFP), is an everyday cyclist and a dedicated weekend warrior. With a professional background in the bicycle industry, Sarah's passion for cycling is deeply intertwined with her commitment to honoring those affected by Parkinson's Disease (PD).
The inception of PFP is a profoundly personal journey for Sarah. While residing in the UK during the COVID-19 pandemic, she experienced the heart-wrenching loss of her beloved grandmother to Parkinson's Disease. Travel restrictions prevented her from returning home to bid farewell, a sorrow that has fueled her determination to make a difference. This emotional turmoil ignited her resolve to create PFP upon her return to Australia.
PFP began with roots in Tasmania, Sarah's childhood home, but has since evolved into a nationwide initiative that moves across Australia each year. Now based in Victoria, Sarah works remotely to meticulously coordinate each new tour location, bridging geographic divides to expand the event's impact. Driven by a deep personal connection to the cause, PFP continues to raise vital awareness and funds for Parkinson's Disease—honouring Sarah's grandmother and transforming grief into a powerful force for good on a national scale.
